Common Terns at Little Marlow Gravel Pit

Since 1995 members of the Bucks Bird Club have provided the visiting Common Terns have suitable rafts to nest on.  Over the years a large number of Terns have benefited from the rafts and the colony at Little Marlow has gradually expanded.  This page contains links to various pages that show the work in building and launching the rafts or on ringing the young Terns.

2008 Yellow over Red on right leg.  Standard BTO silver ring on Left leg.
15 birds ringed.


2007 Yellow over Dark Green on Right Leg.  Standard BTO silver ring on Left leg.
12 birds ringed.


2006 Yellow over Black on Left Leg.  Standard BTO silver ring on Right leg.
15 birds ringed.


2005 - Yellow over Orange on Left Leg.  Standard BTO silver ring on Right leg. 
11 birds ringed.

16 birds ringed.

Sightings - August 2004 at Queen Elizabeth 2 Reservoir, Surrey.


2003 - Red over Yellow on Left Leg.-  Standard BTO silver ring on Right leg. 
18 birds ringed

At least one bird returned to Little Marlow in 2005

Other Sightings - July 2005 at Titchfield Haven Hampshire; a probable (due to fading colours).


2002  Dark Green over Yellow on Left Leg. -  Standard BTO silver ring on Right leg. 
16 birds were ringed.

At least one bird returned to Little Marlow in 2005 and 2006.

In September 2002 one was seen at Hayling Island, Hampshire.
