The top photo is one of eleven Black Terns that visited Calvert Lake on 13th.  Also seen there were two Little Terns.  The lower photo was taken on the 14th of a single straggler.

The 13th was exceptional day for Terns in the county, thirteen were seen at Little Marlow Gravel Pit (with three more on the River Thames); Willen Lake had three Black Terns and four Little Terns; Foxcote Reservoir had three Black Terns.

A Black Tern perched is not a common sight in Bucks, so this individual provided a rare photographic opportunity.   This particular individual was only present for one day.

There had been a fair passage of Black Terns through the county for a week or so either side of this bird, with other birds reported from several sites in the north of the county and two individuals at Little Marlow in the south.
