Calvert Lakes are one of the most reliable places to see this species.  The above adult bird was photographed at about 100 metres range.

Great Black-backed Gull are much scarcer than the other two large resident gulls, Lesser Black-back and Herring Gulls.   Most commonly seen on rubbish tips in winter, where counts into three figures can sometimes be made, this smart Spring bird put in an appearance at Little Marlow.
