This species is not uncommon in suitable habitat during the winter months.  It used to breed in very small numbers but this has not been proven in recent years.

To get these wonderful pictures, Adrian had to wait for several hours, hidden from view.  The end results must have made the wait worthwhile.

Common Snipe are a annual winter visiter to Little Marlow and many other sites across the county.  They are often very well hidden, so seeing one wading in open water, is a little unusual.
