Whiskered Tern   Chlidonias hybridus

This individual was apparently first seen on 29th October but not conclusively identified until 31st when it flew off about 2:30pm.  It admirers were therefore limited mainly to birders in the Milton Keynes area. 

Based upon the leg colour and the dark feathers on the scapulars, the bird was considered to be between juvenile and 1st Winter plumage.

This record shot  is one of two adult Whiskered Terns that were at the site between 16th and 21st May 1994, providing a major twitch for the county and a county first.
