Willow Tit Parus montanus

Vale of Aylesbury - February 2008

The Willow Tit has declined in Buckinghamshire and is now a very scarce species.  These photos are from a previously unknown site for the species raising hopes that a few more may be around.

Separation from Marsh Tit is always a problem, with voice separation being perhaps the easiest for those familiar with the calls.  The above photos do however show the whitish wing panel, largish black bib and "bull-necked" appearance that all help to confirm identification.
