Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima

Thorney Country Park - 19th October 1997

Spot the bird!   This individual stayed for just a day in the corner of a lake just a hundred yards or so from the M25 motorway and not much further to the M4!  It was the third record for the county, the last record being in 1977.  All three records occurred in the months of October and November.
