Bird Sightings

Seen an interesting bird?  Then let us know by submitting a record on our on-line database.  It is easy to do but if you need some instructions take a look at the Submit Sightings Page.  To view the latest sightings just click on the menu item for Latest Sightings.

Some birds are not uncommon in other parts of the country or around our coasts, but may be in Buckinghamshire.  If you want to see just how scarce a particular species is then take a look at the Bucks List.

Field Trip Otmoor RSPB Reserve

16 Sep 2018 - 08:30 to 16:00

at Otmoor RSPB, , (Lat/Long 51.809605 and -1.174569)

This extensive area of lowland meadows, marshes and reedbeds covers 262 acres.  It was once an extensive marshland but it suffered significant damage to the habitat due to drainage. The RSPB have been undergoing a program of restoration which have dramatically improved the habitat for wildlife.  There are approximately 90 different species of birds that currently breed at Otmoor and the winter months see an influx of wildfowl and raptors.
It is now one of the premier birding sites in inland SE England.  Good for waders, ducks and raptors.  Bittern and Crane are possible as is Peregrine.  We should still see some summer visitors in terms of Warblers and Hobby.

Meet in car park at SP570126 which is reached via Otmoor Lane in the village of Beckley.  The postcode for the top of Otmoor Lane is OX3 9TD.

This is a full day.  You will need to take your own food and drink as there are no facilities

Please bring food and drink and note that there are no cafe or toilet facilities.
