Bird Sightings

Seen an interesting bird?  Then let us know by submitting a record on our on-line database.  It is easy to do but if you need some instructions take a look at the Submit Sightings Page.  To view the latest sightings just click on the menu item for Latest Sightings.

Some birds are not uncommon in other parts of the country or around our coasts, but may be in Buckinghamshire.  If you want to see just how scarce a particular species is then take a look at the Bucks List.

at Greenham Common, Main Control Tower Car, (Lat/Long 51.383169 and -1.284347)

Nightjar and other Heathland birds

This is the largest single area of lowland heathland remaining in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and since 2010, BBOWT has been managing the Commons on behalf of West Berkshire Council, working to protect this site for everyone to enjoy. This visit, which will be guided by a member of BBOWT staff, is arranged to try and see the special birds of the heathland, including Nightingale and Nightjar.

Meet in the Control Tower car park at Burys Bank Road, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8DB (nearest to the Control Tower car park).

The Club leader for this event is Rob Andrews; please could you let him know beforehand if you plan to attend this field trip (email, so he has some idea of numbers and can ensure that all members are present before setting out onto the heathland. You probably do not want to be looking for the group in fading light!
