Bird Sightings

Seen an interesting bird?  Then let us know by submitting a record on our on-line database.  It is easy to do but if you need some instructions take a look at the Submit Sightings Page.  To view the latest sightings just click on the menu item for Latest Sightings.

Some birds are not uncommon in other parts of the country or around our coasts, but may be in Buckinghamshire.  If you want to see just how scarce a particular species is then take a look at the Bucks List.

Field Trip Otmoor RSPB Reserve

19 Nov 2020 - 00: to 23:59

at Otmoor RSPB, Otmoor Lane, Beckley (Lat/Long 51.809605 and -1.174569)

This will be an afternoon trip to the popular reserve near Oxford.

We expect to see a wide variety of wildfowl, a selection of waders and hopefully some birds of prey.  Marsh Harriers, Peregrine, Merlin, Buzzard, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk are fairly regular at this time of year, while Hen Harrier is also a possibility.  Bittern, Cetti’s Warbler and Water Rail are present but always tricky to see.  A late Common Crane is another possibility.  If the Starling murmeration has started then we have the option to stay a bit later and see that also.

Meet in the car park at the end of Beckley Lane. There are no facilities available.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions groups of no more than six people are allowed to meet, so in the event of more than six people wishing to attend, we will endeavor to run more than one group on the day. In order for us to make suitable arrangements please email the trip leader in advance. The trip leader will then confirm the start time.

The trip leader is Bill Parker. Please contact Bill at if you wish to attend this meeting.
